Bob Kilger was re-elected Mayor of the City of Cornwall in November 2010. Mr. Kilger is a well-known person in the City of Cornwall, having served its residents as their Mayor during the previous term, and pior to that, as Member of Parliament from 1988 to 2004. He has been involved in a number of community projects, most notably the fundraising campaign for the redevelopment of the Cornwall Community Hospital.

Bob Kilger was first elected to the House of Commons in 1988. He assumed senior government responsibilities, most notably Chief Government Whip and Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons. Mr. Kilger chaired the “Kilger Committee” which was responsible for a report aimed at modernizing the way Parliament works, and was a member of the Board of Internal Economy for 9 years.

A businessman in private life, Mr. Kilger was part-owner of a franchise restaurant and was educated in Cornwall at St. Lawrence High School and Cornwall Classical College.

In 1992, he was named to the Cornwall Sports Hall of Fame in recognition of his varied and outstanding hockey career that included success as a player, coach of the Memorial Cup Champion Cornwall Royals and a 10 year career officiating in the NHL.
